Roz Shares – Today is Friday The 13th, What Does That Mean to You?

This is a fun post that I hope will get some interesting comments.   What does Friday the 13th mean to you? Are you superstitious?

I suppose — at least for me — as one gets older and more realistic one becomes less superstitious (or do they)?

Although I won’t walk under a ladder if I can help it and am not too happy when a mirror breaks, I do my best to not give into the bad luck thing.

This is a silly one.  At one time…  If I found coins that were “tails up” I would NOT pick them up.  Yet IF I found bills, heads or tails did not matter.   TODAY… I pick it all up as long as it is money and consider it “good luck, whether heads of tails.”  After all, it was there, I found it…  “so isn’t that good luck?”  I once found a $20 bill getting off the bus.  Oddly enough earlier I had lost my own MTA (bus card) with almost $20 on it!

What does this Friday the 13th mean to me?

I’m hoping for a relaxing day.  My site was hacked earlier this week.  It’s fixed now, and I’m looking forward to some rest and relaxation — no matter what the date is.

IN FACT… I’m looking forward to lots of good luck!  What about you?

What are you thinking about this Friday the 13th?

Roz Shares – OMG My Site Has Been Hacked and I’m So Grateful?

 OMG, My Website Was Hacked!!!

I started this Blog post Tuesday evening without a care in the world, well nothing major anyway, but it seems the Internet Gods had something else in store for me.

Lo in behold in the middle of writing I received three back-to-back emails from Google.  Why on earth would Google write to little old me?  Well… Google wrote to let me know my site had been hacked and they were putting up a notice each time someone clicked on my link through their search engine to alert visitors of a possible Malware attack.  Something like “BEWARE Malware ~ DO NOT WALK, RUN AWAY!” (Google DID NOT say this exactly, but it was close!)

~ ~ ~ ~ ~

AUTHOR’S NOTE:  Now that it is fixed, I can afford to be humorous. This was serious and NOT a joke.

Google was VERY kind, professional and helpful with instructions on what to do AND how to get it FIXED QUICK!

THANK YOU Google ~ IF it were not for you I would NOT know there was a problem because somehow I could NOT see it.  My site looked perfectly normal TO ME!!!  That’s yet another story as it seems all browsers and AntiVirus software is not created equal!

~ ~ ~ ~ ~

IS THIS FOR REAL? Am I A Victim of a Scammer, Am I Being Spammed or Worse Yet, Is This Phishing?

My first thought was:  Is this real?  OR, was I being phished, scammed or spammed?   FOR REAL ~ My website was hacked!

AUTHOR’S NOTE: I am thrilled to report… My site has been cleaned and is  now working properly.  Google worked their magic by removing the dreaded Malware Notice in less than 12 hours.  Amazing to say the least ~THANK YOU GOOGLE!!!

WHAT’S GRATITUDE GOT TO DO WITH IT?

How does this relate to gratitude?  Who would be grateful to have their website and business hacked?  Good questions…  You asked, I’ll tell!

My website ~ Say It With eCards at http://www.SayItWithEcards.com is a Judaic eCards website.  In less than four weeks Rosh Hashanah 5771, the Jewish New Year begins.  This is a busy time for my site.  It’s a time when the site gets the most visitors in a six week period!

Imagine if my site would have gotten hacked THEN rather than NOW? OMG!

So although I was not quite sure what would happen and how this hacking stuff would all shake out, I was grateful — IF it had to happen at all — it was BETTER NOW rather than THEN.

There is a lot more to follow on my site hacking adventure, so stay tuned.  I felt a little guilty falling behind on Wednesday’s Blog post as I AM a member of the Faith Barnard’s 30-Day Blogging Challenge on Facebook and planned on having my Wednesday’s Blog Post on Tuesday night to be ahead of the game for Wednesday!  As they say… “Better late than never!”

Roz Shares – eCards And The Environment

If you know me, you know I am an advocate for eCards.  As we all know… “Life can change in the blink of an eye!”  We can’t always be there in person, but we CAN be there via eCards ~ whether next door or across the world!

Not Just Quick

eCards are not only quick, they are “environmentally friendly!”

Blog Action Day 2008

On Blog Action Day 2008 I wrote the blog post below on “eCards and the Environment!”

My name is Roz Fruchtman.  I am a Bronx NY Digital Artist with a passion for digital art and design.  Not having formal training as an artist it took me a while to accept the title.

In my day…  artists were those who were born with sketch pads and paint brushes in their chubby little hands — Not literally of course!  However they had a flair for art and design from childhood and continued to develop it through formal education.  I had none of this, therefore, had a problem accepting the title early on.  I have since learned that artists come in many shapes and forms and I wear the title Digital Artist with dignity and pride!

Like most my life was changed  by the Internet.  I no recognize the person I used to be!  I now see a person who is creative, giving, caring and deeply concerned with making a difference and giving back to the community.  In my case giving back to the community is through my art.

To see where all of this is leading and how it relates to  Blog Action Day and Saying The Environment… Please Read On!

After my experience or lack of finding Judaic images on the web, I learned I could create my own.  Like most I put them up free.  People liked them and wanted to use them.  Shocked because I did not know I had this skill, I was more than a little flattered and encouraged to do more.

Six years ago I had a dream to provide a better way for the online Jewish Community and those having a need for Judaic-Themed Greetings to communicate.  I envisioned what is now known as my Judaic eCard Club:

Say It With eCards / http://www.SayItWithEcards.com

Initially it never occurred to me that besides the speed with which the eCards are delivered and the time and money saved that this action could positively impact on the environment at large.  However after much thought I realized that Electronic Greeting Cards — known fondly as eCards — are a great tool to help the environment prosper.

eCards:

  • Eliminate the need to cut down trees. Paper is not needed for electronic eCards except when printed to keep for sentimental reasons.  (At the cost of paper greetings, we all hope our cards will be kept around for awhile, however, that is not the case most of the time unfortunately.)
  • Eliminate the paper of the greeting carditself as eCards are electronic and the only time they are printed is when the recipient wants to save them as a momento.
  • Eliminate the paper of the evenlope.  Everything except post cards are sent in paper envelopes.  Even if the paper greeting card is kept, the envelope is more often than not thrown out in the trash.
  • Elimnate the paper of the stamp.  No stamps would be used as the eCards are sent electronically.
  • Elminate the fumes from the gasoline used when the sender travels to the store or mall to purchase their greeting cards

Won’t you join Blog Action Day and make a difference!  Share your thoughts on the environment and how you can make a difference.  You are no doubt doing something now with little or no effort!

Thursday’s Quote: Life Is a Miracle – Do NOT Throw With It, Rejoice In The Fact You Are Here For Yet Another Day!

Thursday’s Quote
I chose this quote because of my possible near death experience last evening.  Perhaps I am taking this to the extreme, but things could have ended so differently!  I’d like to think of it as a message from God to lighten up and find the blessings in life and not get so hung up on the wrongs other may have done to me!  Who really cares… I’M STILL STANDING!

Here is the link to my prior post
http://rozfruchtman.com/2010/07/29/roz-shares-i-could-have-died-last-night-for-real/

Today’s Quote ~ The Zen master Ling Chi said that the miracle is not to walk on burning charcoal or in the thin air or on the water; the miracle is  just to walk on earth. You breathe in. You become aware of the fact that you are alive.  You are still alive and you are walking on this beautiful planet…  The greatest of all miracles is to be alive.~ Thich Nhat Hanh
