Revised/Updated and Re-Posted June 12, 2022

Since I wrote the original blog post in 2015, I have rebranded. I am now writing under the name @RozSpirations

JOIN US on Facebook, Twitter, & Instagram for Daily Inspiration, Support and Community!

Quotes are all over the place.  We see them here, there and everywhere!

However, to me:  Quotes are not just fancy words.  Quotes inspire, Quotes support, and Quotes CHANGE lives.

When I was ill in early 2011, to say that Quotes made a big difference in my life would be an understatement.  To say they changed my path for recovery, would be more accurate.  Since then, it’s been on my heart to do something to share, encourage and inspire in a more official way.  Since May 2013 I have been posting “almost” daily quotes and notes of encouragement via my dedicated Facebook Page/Group and Twitter accounts. Since 2015 I have been posting daily, multiple times depending on social platform!

Roz Shares – How Everything Counts

UPDATED: August 23, 2021

This post was originally published in 2012, and an earlier one before that.
It’s message IS THAT IMPORTANT, I wanted to update it, and republish with a more current date!

Through the years the theory “of Everything Counting” is as true today as it was then.

Furthermore, these two small words changed my life and motivated me to begin projects knowing I could not finish them in one sitting ~ something I’m not proud to admit ~ because I would NEVER have done it before.

Consider this:

You need to clean up a room, clean out a closet, re-arrange a bookcase or perhaps paint your entire apartment or house.  In business it might be you want to re-do your website, create a new blog, install a shopping cart, do some filing, etc.  Whatever… you’ve been putting it off because you do not have a lot of time, so you say: “I’ll attack this project when I get more time” ~ or worse yet… “someday when I have more time!”  I am smiling as I write this – Can you see me? – I hope you are smiling too, because…

If you are like me, “someday” may never happen and the job grows monumentally in size and stress by the the time you do have the time.  Sometimes a large chunk of time, just never comes and the project never gets started.  It becomes a distant memory – worse yet an “accusing reminder” of the project that never was ~The opportunity that never came to fruition.

NOW… Consider this scenario:

You do a little today, maybe another chunk tomorrow and then more the next day or next week.  The point here is to get started!  One action — no matter how small — builds on the other and eventually the project gets done. NOTHING… “did you hear me”… NOTHING is too small, because EVERYTHING COUNTS!

This blog post was inspired by a sales training call years ago with my mentor Eric Lofholm.  Eric shared the now familiar theory that Everything Counts!”

On a personal note:

Years later, I can still hear Eric Lofholm’s words ringing in my ears, each time I start a new project, a project I might not have started otherwise. It never occurred to me, that “everything really does count” towards achieving my goal to creating or painting if you will, the bigger picture. Even throwing out a piece of paper, one piece of junk mail, or even washing one cup counts. CONSIDER THIS: Those things (the one piece of paper, the one piece of junk mail, or even the one cup) WILL NOT be there — to do — the next time!

Roz Fruchtman on Get The Edge by Tony Robbins

AUTHOR’S NOTE:
Original Entry was written / November 19, 2004
Updated Here on February 3, 2022

This is as relevant today, as it was when I first wrote it, in fact…
It may be even more relevant with what we’ve been through the last couple of years and the uncertain times we are still living through.
– Realistically speaking… Nothing is going to change any time soon, so WE MUST change in order to live our best life in today’s new normal – which changes regularly!

A week or two ago I posted the novella below on a self-proclaimed Tony Robbins fan site. I’m not sure why I did it, as I never visit the site and was just passing through. I believe it will do more good here than there as hardly anyone posts or reads that site. The topic was:

“HOW TONY ROBBINS INSPIRED ME!”

“You asked, I’ll tell…”

ON GET THE EDGE

I was very skeptical when I ordered Get The Edge (May 2003), but being desperately in need of help, I took a chance. There was something about Tony that struck a cord with me. However, I will admit that I watched his infomercial for 5 months “before” I ordered the CDs. Mostly because I did not have the money and I felt it was dishonest to order the CDs and then send them back. (NO… I still have them!)

The longer I watched the more desperate I got… Finally after 5 months I called and asked for the number of customer service. I do reviewing, but I knew how badly I needed those CDs and I WOULD NOT ask to review them. I told them my problem and asked if they ever had discounts. To this day I am not sure if there really was a promotion, but the man I spoke to took off $100 from the package and STILL told me I could return the package in 30 days. I NEVER returned it!

When I got the CDs I “admired” (smiling broadly as I type this) the packaging. I was impressed with the way it looked! I looked at it for one week using the excuse that I needed to go out and buy a disk player so that I could walk and listen and/or listen away from the computer.

Finally I said to myself: “Self, you really have to try these in case they really are NOT good and have to go back.” I gingerly put the CD in the CD player of my computer and began to listen. I listened to the program as I was instructed to:

  • Tape 1 — Get The Edge
  • I believe it was suggested that we could listen to the end tape of Focus.I did this and cried with Tony when he talked about his father-in-law. I had lost my best friend in a similar manner.
  • Tape 1 — Personal Power Classic
  • Tape 2 — Personal Power Classic — Pain & Pleasure
PAIN & PLEASURE was the one that did it for me. UNTIL THEN I did not feel much excitement or a feeling that things were going to change. When I started to do the exercise, I realized why I WAS doing and NOT doing certain things. It all became crystal clear. I have listened to that CD many more times than I care to count!

NOTE: It was never that I felt the program was not good, I just felt it might not work “for me!” After all, I was not having much success in anything at that point and for sure could not count on myself for anything! (I was shattered after 911 — living in NYC and being in Manhattan that day I was destroyed and could not seem to find my way back!)

PAIN & PLEASURE did it for me. I knew that I was eating for comfort. I had gained back the 20 pounds I had lost before 911. I gained it back because I was eating “comfort food,” like many others and NOT because I was hungry. I am/was not unique in any of this.

NOTE II: I did find out in the middle of Unleash the Power Within (UPW) why I was so shattered after 911 and why I could not find my way back: “I LOST my CERTAINTY!” I lost the feeling of security and would never know it again. Once I realized that everything changed!

PAIN & PLEASURE was the turning point for me.

I went through Get The Edge (it took longer than a month) and Personal Power II (I started and stopped this a few times, but finally got through it in one shot. I cried in utter elation when I realized I had finished it. I had not realized I was at the end!)

I also attended Unleash The Power Within (UPW) complimentary of Tony’s generosity after I gave a testimonial on National TV when he was on QVC (Over the phone!) I had been doing Get The Edge for about five weeks when I gave the first testimonial. I can still remember how nervous I was, but I remembered what Tony said on one of the tapes… (paraphrasing in my own words here) Something like we only get one chance sometimes and if we don’t take it it might not come around again! I felt if I did not call to talk to him that night I might never have the chance.)

One year later I gave another Testimonial in the way of “thanking Tony” live on National TV. I could not get near him at UPW and it was VERY important to me to thank him for helping me when no one else would. I did not want him to think that I just took the ticket lightly. He did for me, what no one else would.

Let’s put it this way, before I did Get The Edge I could not even see a light at the end of the tunnel. Once I started it I saw a glimmer and now I see a huge fire! Living in NYC after 911 I was done in.

Get The Edge helped me to learn to depend on myself again. (I was always independent and a survivor!)

I lost 23 pounds (the 20 plus 3) – not so much from dieting, but from walking, “deciding” when I ate whether it was going to be painful/regretful AFTER I ate it and ate for pleasure when I wanted to. In other words I decided if I wanted the pleasure of the food or the pain/regret afterwards. When I felt it would be painful afterwards I “did not” eat the food. It was easy, especially after I started to lose the weight. It’s still a struggle, but I worked too hard to go backwards.

I also changed the way that I think. I no longer feel if something does not work that I failed. I feel that “I learned something” and now I know what does not work. I then go on to do something different and if that does not work, I try again UNTIL I reach the outcome that I am looking for. All the time being positive and excited about what I am doing. Before that, I was shattered when things did not work and I put so much of myself into them.

This has kept me focused for 18 months so far. NOW that I know — AGAIN — what it is to be happy I HAVE something to measure from. BEFORE I could not remember being happy EVER! I could NOT understand how I got where I was.

I also take time “each day” to be grateful. It was not that I was ungrateful before, but I never gave it much thought. I realized that I had lots to be grateful for, but it was just in passing. I suppose you could say that I took things for granted like many others. NOW… that I take time to be grateful I find many more people doing the same things. I guess I just never looked before!

As well, I have learned to count my blessings and I am trying to demonstrate to others that they have things in their lives to be grateful for as well. To me, NOW… every little thing that happens is a blessing. I have learned to turn negatives into positives and usually demonstrate it through my art. It becomes fun and “feels good!” My entire life changed after I did Get The Edge. Got a little confusing after Unleash The Power Within because I dealt with the issues I had when I went and when I came back I had new ones. Let’s call it growing pains. However, It got better after Personal Power II. Also, it takes time. It’s a lot of work. I suppose some can do it quickly, but everything in my life was in disarray so I had a lot to fix. (As I said to Tony via my testimonial: “If I was not happy with me, I could not expect anyone else to be! So I worked on me first!”)

One has to be ready to do the program. It is NOT magic. It’s lots of hard work. It’s not rocket science and all makes sense, but it helps when the person helping IS encouraging you and NOT telling you what you can’t do. (I came from a dysfunctional family like a lot of other people and the one thing that Tony said that made a huge difference right off was: “Your past is NOT your future!” That tore down the barriers immediately, NEVER to go up again!)

Trust me, I am not where I want to be, but I am much, much, much further ahead than I was. My life is different. I am happy, I feel strong and have accomplished lots of the goals I set for myself. I still have some major ones to do, but when I look back at how far I have come I know I can do it!

I wish I could have a personal coach as one sometimes needs that personal touch, but I am more than a little financially challenged right now and that is not in the cards for me — right now. This is a major drawback, but I will just keep plugging ahead!

BTW, who cares if Tony got divorced. Did anyone ever think that someone CAN help others because they learned from their own mistakes. I would NEVER condemn him for getting divorced and then telling others how to build their relationships. That is utter nonsense.

Perhaps I look at things differently because I am older, but I have lived a lot of life and my only regret is that I NEVER knew about Tony Robbins before. My life would have been so much different.

Roz Asks: Do You Live in The City of Regret?

A while back I came upon a short story I felt described each of us at one time or another ~whether we’re willing to admit it or not!  I present it to you below.

Leaving the City of Regret
by: Larry Harp, Heartwarmers4u

I had not really planned on taking a trip this time of year, and yet I found myself packing rather hurriedly. This trip was going to be unpleasant and I knew in advance that no real good would come of it. I’m talking about my annual “Guilt Trip.”

I got tickets to fly there on Wish I Had airlines. It was an extremely short flight. I got my baggage, which I could not check. I chose to carry it myself all the way. It was weighted down with a thousand memories of what might have been. No one greeted me as I entered the terminal to the Regret City International Airport. I say international because people from all over the world come to this dismal town.

As I checked into the Last Resort Hotel, I noticed that they would be hosting the year’s most important event, the Annual Pity Party. I wasn’t going to miss that great social occasion. Many of the towns leading citizens would be there.

First, there would be the Done family, you know, Should Have, Would Have and Could Have. Then came the I Had family. You probably know ol’ Wish and his clan. Of course, the Opportunities would be present, Missed and Lost. The biggest family would be the Yesterday’s. There are far too many of them to count, but each one would have a very sad story to share.

Then Shattered Dreams would surely make and appearance. And It’s Their Fault would regale us with stories (excuses) about how things had failed in his life, and each story would be loudly applauded by Don’t Blame Me and I Couldn’t Help It.

Well, to make a long story short, I went to this depressing party knowing that there would be no real benefit in doing so. And, as usual, I became very depressed. But as I thought about all of the stories of failures brought back from the past, it occurred to me that all of this trip and subsequent “pity party” could be cancelled by ME! I started to truly realize that I did not have to be there. I didn’t have to be depressed. One thing kept going through my mind, I CAN’T CHANGE YESTERDAY, BUT I DO HAVE THE POWER TO MAKE TODAY A WONDERFUL DAY. I can be happy, joyous, fulfilled, encouraged, as well as encouraging. Knowing this, I left the City of Regret immediately and left no forwarding address. Am I sorry for mistakes I’ve made in the past? YES! But there is no physical way to undo them.

So, if you’re planning a trip back to the City of Regret, please cancel all your reservations now. Instead, take a trip to a place called, Starting Again. I liked it so much that I have now taken up permanent residence there. My neighbors, the I Forgive Myselfs and the New Starts are so very helpful. By the way, you don’t have to carry around heavy baggage, because the load is lifted from your shoulders upon arrival. God bless you in finding this great town. If you can find it — it’s in your own heart — please look me up. I live on I Can Do It street.

Roz’s Take on Regret

I left the City of Regret years ago, NEVER to return again!  If you are a lifetime learner like me…

Regret can be healthy WHEN we use it to learn. Personally I believe there is a lesson to be learned in most things. It’s comforting to me to believe this way.  While we can’t always go back to correct, we can use our knowledge as a lesson to help and/or inspire others to not make the same mistakes we did or to show compassion and understanding when they do. ;)

On the other hand, sometimes we can make better choices based on the mistakes that caused our regret!  It’s as simple and as easy as that!

Today is the First Day of the Rest of My Life – Here’s to a New Year, New Me, New You, New US ~Welcome to 2014!

today-is-the-first-day-of-the-rest-of-my-life

Happy New Year!  Welcome to 2014!

Today is the first day of the rest of my life!  How many times I’ve said that in the past decades.  I get a sick feeling each time I remember all the wasted time.  Realistically all that so-called wasted time brought me to the person I am today.  All that wasted time guided me to learn how to make right decisions and ultimately to embracing a healthy attitude toward what success REALLY is as opposed to what failure REALLY is.  REAL success has NOTHING to do with money!

With all the hoopla of a new year and grand expectations I will admit I haven’t made any formal resolutions ~YET.  What I know is, I was NOT happy with the way things were and to me, it’s common sense to change them!  I DO have one or two things — maybe three —  that I WANT to achieve in the first quarter of 2013.  It’s not only a want, but a MUST!  The point is, I WANT the outcome of these things and I believe THAT wanting will be the GRAND motivator this time around.

In the past I’ve self sabotaged with so many plans it was absolutely impossible to achieve them. Last year I was burnt out multiple times and I’m still not where I want to be, but I’ve made hard decisions and changed my attitude toward those things that were crippling me for so long.

Why should you care?  Better yet… Why am I sharing this with you.  Well, I feel by me sharing, I might be able to inspire you to look forward with new eyes and a new attitude.  The most important thing I learned last year was that my failures were a thing, they were NOT me.  In other words if my dream or business failed, “I WAS NOT a failure!”  Until that point I was UNABLE to separate myself from the things I did or wanted to do.  Once I was able to make that separation, things began to move in a completely different direction, one that was positive and filled with joy.

Today really is the first day of the rest of my life, AND yours too!  WE CAN make a decision to change focus at ANY time, it does NOT have to be the beginning of any year.  It can happen in a split second! NOW or at ANY time!!!

In closing I’d like to encourage you to take some quiet time and THINK about the things YOU want to do, write them down.  THEN… DECIDE and list the actions necessary to achieve your desires and goals.  IF they don’t work, try something else.  IF that does not work, try something else.  Continue UNTIL you reach the YOUR desired outcome! NEVER NEVER NEVER give up, make adjustments and continue on!
