A Lesson Learned – Do What Makes You Feel Good, Others Have No Place In The Equation Of You And Your Joy

Confession Time — I work VERY hard at keeping myself positive, joyful, motivated and inspired!  I make a conscious effort to look for things to prop me up, things that I can do for myself.

I’ve learned from experience… looking to others for one’s joy is a mistake and a disappointment waiting to happen.  Others can’t fix us, we need to fix ourselves!  We need to be our own cheerleaders!

A couple of months ago I started to write a quote of the day.  Some of the quotes were by others and some were my own.  Those that were my own, were inspired by my daily life experiences at that time,  to demonstrate lessons I learned and to inspire and motivate me.  To add more value… I shared my personal comments and feelings on the subject.

While we are all unique and have our own special gifts and talents… There are some things about us that are not unique and are shared by others — feelings is one of them.  Therefore, I had hoped the quotes would inspire others as well, however, they received little attention.

After awhile I got discouraged and stopped writing the quotes. But… Something VERY odd happened! I began to notice an emptiness from within.  Oddly enough the quotes were like therapy and gave me a voice to share my thoughts and feelings.  They actually kept me inspired!

Sometimes we do things for the wrong reasons.  Our allegiance must be to ourselves first.  We need to do things that make us feel good, that inspire and motivate us, that bring us joy.  Expecting others to make us feel good or acknowledge our efforts is a mistake and disappointment waiting to happen.  I knew all this, but like you, I am a human being and sometimes we all need a little outside encouragement… WRONG!!! DO IT FOR YOURSELF!!!!

Find things that will prop you up, make you feel good about yourself, inspire you to move you toward fulfilling your dreams while filling you up so that you will have more to share with others.  REMEMBER:  We are all people first!

SUGGESTION

I am a fan of Joyce Meyer.  Joyce’s teachings are non-denominational and can apply to everyone.  A couple of years ago she wrote a book which I keep by my bedside — A review is below:

http://rozfruchtman.com/2010/07/31/roz-reviews-100-ways-to-simplify-your-life-by-joyce-meyer/

What makes “100 Ways To Simplify Your Life” unique for me, is… The book will not only simplify your life, but will bring you peace and guide you to make your own decisions. Each of the 100 ways can be read alone, independent of each other!  The review will share a little game I play with it!

Roz Shares – A Day Filled With Divine Interruptions

Today’s blog post is on “Divine Interruptions.”
(Republishing from an earlier event!)

It’s often said:  “Life happens!” Please read on to find out what I’m talking about.  It’s interesting and might very well make your own sudden inconveniences or detours more fun and enjoyable.

Tuesday, I had a day filled with a number of Divine Interruptions that were beyond my control.  Because of these interruptions I was in places I ordinarily would not have been at, at times I would not have ordinarily been there!  The timing was such that I met two old friends individually and helped one with a computer issue and the other possibly with a more personal issue — as well as being able to catch up and chit chat for a bit.

You may ask:  “What is a Divine Interruption?”

Below is a direct quote I borrowed from Joel Osteen’s Facebook Post

— Begin Joel Osteen Quote on Divine Interruption —

Today’s Word:

We all have times when our plans don’t work out. We get delayed, interrupted, and inconvenienced. It’s easy to get frustrated and fight against everything that doesn’t go our way. But I’ve learned that every interruption is not bad. Every closed door doesn’t mean you’re doing something wrong. Every delay doesn’t mean you’re not where you’re supposed to be. There is something I call a divine interruption where God, on purpose, will delay us to protect us from an accident. On purpose, He will close a door because it’s not His best. Sometimes, God will allow us to be inconvenienced so we can help someone else in need. We have to be willing to press through difficulty so we can be at the right place at the right time.

The next time you’re interrupted, delayed, or inconvenienced, don’t start thinking, “This is a pain. This is getting me off schedule.” No, get a new perspective. Look for what God wants to do because it could be divine interruption or divine protection. Trust Him today because He is directing your steps.

— End  Joel Osteen Quote on Divine Interruption —

Joel Osteen did a sermon on the subject of Divine Interruptions. It’s a great way to enjoy those unforeseen inconveniences that happen out of the blue while blessing others as well as yourself.

Be Thankful – A Poem And Instant Mood Elevator

This post was originally published October 28, 2011.  However, Gratitude NEVER gets old! ;)

I created this video last year for a class I took with Bob The Teacher aka Bob Jenkins ~ Simple Video Velocity 3, the virtual class.

I took the long/wrong way around to create this, but it was a lesson well learned.  Nonetheless…  the result is one that all of us need to consider from time to time, especially with all the noise these days!

Please do take a few moments (it is NOT long) and have a look see.  For me… It speaks volumes and is an instant mood elevator and thought provoker…

I hope this video brings you the same joy and peace it brings me each time I see/read the poem, in whatever format it might appear.

Would love to hear your thoughts.  Please share your comments in the Comments area below!

Love and Hugs,

Roz Says… I’m Back!

I’ve not written for the last few months.  It’s been a journey and to be honest it was much too painful to share UNTIL I got my thoughts to where I could write from peace and NOT from anger!  Sometimes it’s like that, but luckily NOT too often! 2010 was a year of HUGE personal growth and decision.

While 2011 looked bright and shiny and felt like the year of rebirth, life took a turn and I was ill for the first two months.  I’m on the road to recovery in body and spirit with new ideas and goals from what I learned during this time!

I BELIEVE

I truly belief that God sometimes puts us in situations so we can learn and walk in other’s shoes ~hopefully on a temporary basis!  This happened to me back in 2006 when I had a sudden retina detachment.  The recovery period allowed me to see how some who are visually impaired live on a daily basis and how they are treated.  This made me more considerate, compassionate and helpful.

UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL

This time, it was dealing with the uncertainty of what was happening to me physically and the reality of how fragile life really is ~and that it could end at any time! I knew this… however, this stuff happened suddenly and I got to experience “up close and personal” just how quickly things can change.

I learned in a hurry, how to appreciate life more and realize what is really important.  Furthermore I vowed to ALWAYS put myself first as far as my health and well being ~both physically and spiritually!  I’m believing in 100% recovery, but I did not always feel that way!  I’ll do my best to use the fear I felt to keep me on my toes!

Stay tuned… I’m hoping my journey will help others!
