Roz Says: Welcome to 2011 – Looks Like WE Made It!

Happy New Year to You and Yours!  Looks like we made it to yet another year, AND AM I HAPPY we did!!!

OH MY… All Those 1’s

Somehow… This year seems so much more exciting.  Perhaps it is the allure of all those 1’s ~ 1/1/11 or 1/11/11 or better yet 11/11/11  factor.  WOWEE… what marketers WILL do with this!

MY WISH FOR YOU, FOR US

May this year be your/OUR best year yet and may you/WE obtain all your/OUR goals and dreams.  May your/OUR blessings be so abundant they are too many to count!

NEVER GIVE UP, JUST GET BETTER

You CANNOT fail if you do not try!  You also WILL NOT be successful if you do not try! You will ALWAYS WONDER if you do not try! If you try and give up too soon, you may be walking away when success is right around the corner.

Making adjustments to those things which are not working is NOT giving up… It is GETTING BETTER!  I say this to you as much as I say it to myself.  There are some things I’ve been doing for years which have not served me well.  I complained bitterly, but I NEVER did much about it.  Why?  Perhaps I was afraid of what would happen, yet I knew what I was doing was not working. JOIN ME… TAKE CHANCES, MAKE CHANGES…  New opportunities are in the wings, just waiting for us! Things can ONLY GET BETTER! If not, WE’LL JUST TRY AGAIN! Giving up is NOT an option!

DO NOT LISTEN TO THEM

Just keep in mind… Marketers and sales people are trained in emotional marketing.  We all do it.  DO NOT LISTEN to the things YOU KNOW are meant to make you feel bad and purchase products YOU KNOW you will NEVER use.  DO LISTEN to the things that ARE TRUE!  YOU DO know the difference!

UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN

May your dreams be plentiful and your blessings be too many to count.

Roz Asks: Do You Wash Your Paper Plates? IF You Do, Does It Make You Feel Stingy?

Updated: 10/28/2010

I’m struggling lately making some life changing decisions.  I know what I don’t want, but I’m having trouble implementing what I do want, in fact I’m not sure anymore what that really is.  There are some things that must be removed from my life in order to clear the way for the new!

My point…  My attitude is being affected by finances.  I’m far from crying poverty with all the hurt out there.  I’m a lot better off than many, so I do my best to always look on the bright side of things:  “Like saying, it could have been worse IF this or that happened, etc., you know what I mean!”

Getting back to the paper plate issue.

I should have said:  “Do you RINSE your paper plates?”  It would be ludicrous to wash your paper plates with dish detergent, when you can use a regular plate and do the same  action and SAVE money, cause you could wash the SAME plate over and over and over UNLESS you dropped it and it broke!

When I wrote the earlier post below I had a lapse and was confusing being economical with being cheap or stingy.  It’s a mind set issue, but I’m seeing the light.

Just wanted to share!

I INVITE YOU to comment below in the COMMENTS area.

I’m really curious…
Do You Wash Your Paper Plates?

In today’s economy most of us are doing things we might not have done before or even thought of doing until now?  I often wonder if it age, or is it the economy or am I becoming more frugal or worse yet stingy and cheap.  No one wants to consider themselves a tightwad. ;)

Lately I’ve been asking friends and relatives this question:  “Do you wash your paper plates?”

To clarify, I am talking about the “heavier” paper plates, the ones with a coating on them, the ones that will hold moisture ~ the real thin paper plates go in the trash first time out!

To my surprise…  everyone I asked said yes… they will rinse off a paper plate that is pretty clean except for a spot or a few crumbs.

What was more interesting after I realized I was not being cheap, were the various reasons people were washing their paper plates.

  • to save money of course
  • to save the environment
  • less paper or Styrofoam in the landfills
  • less dishes to wash

SOOOOOOOO… “DO YOU wash your paper plates and if so, what are YOUR reasons?

Another WordPress Adventure – I Am The Only One Who Could NOT See My Own Blog Entries

Roz Says: EVERY Adversity is An Opportunity to Learn

For the last few days I’ve been having “viewing” challenges with this Blog ~ http://www.RozFruchtman.com

It all started when I created a Blog entry, published it and THEN decided I wanted to CHANGE the title and Permalink URL!

There was a little bit more involved in this, but from then on “I” could NOT see my blog when I clicked the TITLE link to go to the archived post or comment page.  I could see the Blog in FireFox, but NOT in IE7.x where I was working.

This went on for a few days, with me researching and asking others if they could see the Blog.  I myself was able to see it with no problem from my laptop which has IE8.x.

My two good friends Judith Tramayne ( @JudithTramayne on Twitter ), and Micki Wingate ( @EclecticAcademy on Twitter ) shared their precious time trying to help me resolve my issues.

Every Adversity is An Opportunity to Learn ~ YES IT IS!

We were not sure if this was an Internet Explorer 7 (IE7) issue or a WordPress issue or just an issue on my system.

It seemed odd, that ONLY I could NOT see MY Blog and everyone else could.  Odd indeed!

Judith found a Scan on the Microsoft Website that “searches for and fixes Internet Explorer issues.”  NOTE: The Scan “does not” do anything you do not want it to.  You DO have choices. The scan is from Microsoft Automated Troubleshooting Services, AND… Judith used it first! ;)  Go here to check out your own Internet Explorer ~ mine was for Internet Explorer 7.  Check your version first!  THAT WAS NOT the issue for me and did not fix my WordPress problem.

Next Micki suggested I “disable ALL plugins!”  We were on to something here.  As soon as I disabled ALL the plugins I was back in business.

  • My blog showed up and began to work normally.
  • My blog loaded faster and all seemed well again, except I had no plugins ~ YET!

NOW the fun began… I started to “enable” the plugins”one-by-one!”  Each time I enabled a plugin I checked the Blog (oh, and I updated the plugins too).  For some odd reason the Sexy Bookmarks Plugin was the culprit, it was no longer working properly.  I have no idea why as it works on all my other Blogs with no problems.

Here comes the good part…

Now that I could not use Sexy Bookmarks I got to try the Sociable for WordPress 3.0 Plugin by Tom Pokress!  YIPPEE… It does EXACTLY what I want and I’m in seventh heaven.

I still want to know what is going on with Sexy Bookmarks and why it suddenly stopped working properly.  I’ll be contacting my webhost to see if there were any changes made to the server.  The really odd part is that ALL Blog Posts made BEFORE I tried to “change the permalink url” still worked fine with Sexy Bookmarks enabled!

I would truly love to hear your thoughts on this issue.  I’ll update as well when/if I ever find the answer.

Roz Shares: I Decided NOT Too

A week or so ago I decided to take 30 days to evaluate what it is I want to do and how I could fix or eliminate  those things that are not working for me.

It’s been about 10 days so far and I have not even begun to evaluate ~ thus the 30 days will be extended.  REMEMBER: This exercise was to “eliminate ALL stress and ALL pressure while making life-changing decisions!”

The first week was taken up with personal business that needed taking care of.  Ordinarily I would have been stressed just taking the time, but since I’ve “given myself the gift of time” it was not stressful at all ~a little wasteful, but not stressful.

One day was spent waiting around at a government office to have some information updated.  Just as it was my next “the computers went down!”  Since it was a long trip, I decided to hang around a bit, but they never came back up and I had to return two days later.  At which time I waited some more and when called I was told I had to come back late November.  While it was wasteful in one area, it was informative in others.  AND… I even got to get out and enjoy the wonderful New York weather and get some much needed exercise.  SEE… “I’ve already begun to put a positive spin on a negative situation.”  Just that demonstrated TO ME… I was beginning to think differently.

The past few days have been taken up with horrendous activities like: Watching TV, eating, sleeping and doing a repeat performance a few times a day ~with a little computer time in between. Don’t ya just feel sorry for me? ;)  The point is, I have not even begun to evaluate anything except the fact I’m tired and “I just want to re-learn how to just be!” I can’t stay at the computer for more than a little while without feeling like I need to escape!  For me… just feeling that is odd.

THE GUILTS

It’s interesting…  Since I am taking this vacation of sorts “at home” I’m feeling guilty just lounging around.

IF I were away at a resort I would just veg out on a chaise lounge with NO guilt.  I wish I could figure out why relaxing when away at a resort is ok, but relaxing at home is not ~This IS VERY IMPORTANT!  What have “I done to myself?”

Adding blogging each day would just recreate the pressure I’m trying to remove.

I DECIDED NOT TOO

To eliminate any stress of “having to do ANYTHING at all” I’ve decided NOT to blog each day.  I’m  just taking notes and observing the journey.  So far “I’m just being!”  That’s not a bad place to be, but I still do not feel up to doing much more!  Thus… I decided to write this blog post to eliminate the stress of breaking the promise of blogging each day, besides some things really are personal!
